After the
announcement of the annual fare adjustment of MTR early this year, a petition
organized by the Liberal Party in Hong Kong against the fare hikes drew
thousands of signatures from the citizens. Although the fare
adjustment has been done annually for the past three years, the issue continues
to generate much public outcry.
Looking at the
increased number of people utilizing the MTR as their main public transport, it
comes as no surprise that many people in Hong Kong are concerned about the
issue of MTR fare increase. However, the questions that should be asked are,
why is the public reacting this way? Are the public’s reactions to this issue
justified?
This is where we discuss about what concerns us. This is where we make our voices heard.
